Requires "parts" (see crafting guide) to fix it, which will be hard to come by and work with even at your own shop in Little Rock. **You have no hope of fixing the mechanism that rotates the barrels here** - There's a deep crack running down one of the six barrels of the gun - the one that it's currently stuck on. This crack extends all the way from the tip of the barrel to the insignia script "BM" just past where the grip ends. **You probably could fix this with tools available to you in Hot Springs** - **Key Takeaway** - you can't fix the reloading mechanism until you have more money, tools, and time. But you can restore Honeycomb to a 1 shot reload "musket" type gun while here in [[D&D/(C2) Turtle Island/Places/Southeast/Hot Springs, Arkansas/Bathhouse Row/Hot Springs, AK|Hot Springs, AK]] - Honeycomb is an absolute work of art. - You can tell it's made by a craftsman with meticulous, methodical, and precise techniques - More closely resembles the type of engineering you've seen on a watch as opposed to a gun - To your surprise though, you clearly feel a spark of magic, the same type you are used to infusing in to spelltech, present in it's mechanisms - **Honeycomb represents a totally different approach to spelltech than you are accustomed to** - In general - spelltech hinges on figuring out how to walk the line between determinism and entropy - Technology is inherently deterministic, repeatable, calculable - Magic is chaotic, disprate, entropic - Honeycomb is the most clear example you've ever seen of a spelltech practitioner mastering and managing the magical element of their creation using precise, deterministic order - Burt Meliifera seems to have forced the natural order to bend to his will with pure precision and meticulous attention to detail - **What is Kel's approach to this chaos/order division in his work? How does he feel about this divide?** - Regardless, you aren't sure if you can match the craftsmanship - In fact, you aren't sure that anyone other than the guns creator could do so - but you'd love to find out if you're up to the challenge Given all that, there are two main paths to repairing Honeycomb ### Option 1 - Attempt to Restore the Gun to what it Was - You can fix the barrel here - you just need to form a mold around it and smelt/pour in a replacement iron ingot in to the crack - **Pros** - This brings the gun back to closer to what it once was - It doesn't change anything about the guns fundamental makeup - **Cons** - The barrel will always be weaker than what it once was - inherent to its construction was the strength and singular purpose of will of its creator - Repairing the mechanism as it stands now will be extremely difficult - This is the first band aid. Every time the gun breaks, repairing it in this fashion will grow increasingly harder. ### Option 2 - Infuse Loretta's Own Power into the Gun - This gun's existence is a fundamental stand against the natural entropic order of the world - Attempting to restore it to what Burt intended would be an act of hubris - Instead - attempt steering in to the magic running along the barrel, the magic of it's primary user for the last few years - Infuse some of Loretta's magic into the gun and steer it's repairs in the direction of it's owner - **Pros** - This is the only long term option for keeping Honeycomb working without Burt - Loretta will be far more equipped to repair Honeycomb on her own - it will draw on more of her own power - Loretta may discover magic yet unrevealed in Honeycomb - crafting it to be her own may reveal new abilities - **Cons** - Once you go down this path, the gun will never be quite the same - for better or for worse - To a craftsman like Burt, this would be the most profane insult ### What's Next - Decision of restore to previous functionality or infuse ranger power - Either way, need to find - A blacksmith foundry - need a forge - A gunsmith's fixture - Raw Materials - Ingot if restoring gun to previous condition - Rare or better essence if trying to infuse Honeycomb with Loretta's magic ## Notes from Session -1 - Designed character overall as an almost jack of all trades - Heavy int half caster - 7 tool proficiencies lmao - Shardarkai Elf - from shadowfell - Armorer subclass - Specialize more in the infiltrator knowledge - Bounty hunter specialized in huting down magical bounties - Raven Queen - Bounty hunter that serves the raven queen - Carry a shield ### Potential Background - More of planeswalker - Possible multiclass as a wizard later on - Bladesinger - Would allow to switch to a lighter armor, but still ## Artificer Abilities Artificer general abilities [Artificer - DND 5th Edition](http://dnd5e.wikidot.com/artificer)
